Your Journey To Pain Free Movement Starts Here
About
Hi there, I’m Riley, at Highway to Health Solutions I offer a unique approach to healing, one that aims to simplify the complex systems of the human body and assists in empowering the healing journey of each individual. The name Highway to Health Solutions came about as a play on both a wordplay on the AC/DC song and because what I do is in alignment with providing you the everyday tools to help keep you and your body(vehicle) on the road to vitality.
My work is grounded in uncovering the fundamental causes of pain and dysfunction, as well as addressing symptom relief, I’m also looking at the mind, diet, environment, emotions, physique, energy consumption and movement capacity of the individual, think a more holistic approach without too much of the holistic woo associated with it. I’m a naturalist so I like to bring things back to nature. With me this can be done through a gentle yet deeply effective combination of bodywork, movement therapy, and lifestyle integration, where I guide clients towards a more regulated nervous system, fluidity in movement, and long lasting recovery in a natural way.
I have a rather unique approach to my massage treatments which is unlike most traditional or clinical remedial massages, there’s quite a process that I take the body through in order to let the body receive, relax and repair. Beginning with calming the nervous system with Vagus Nerve Stimulation where I can assess the breath and the lymphatic flow in the neck, before starting to move fluid and open the fascia through the chest, arms and shoulders, relieving tension in the neck and head, addressing forward head posture and Vagal Tone, then moving on to working through to the organs, and down the fascial bands through the hips and legs all the way to the feet. In a nutshell, I put the nervous system into parasympathetic state, help open fluid and nerve flow pathways through the fascia, restore balance in the spine and pelvis, and ease tension in the shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and other joint systems. Through my six plus years of treating I’ve seen that my treatments not only support structural alignment but also promote blood, nerve and lymphatic flow, nervous system regulation, mental clarity, organ function, and joint ranges of motion.
I work with a wide range of clients, supporting all things from everyday pain management, disease and chronic health issues, weight loss and lifestyle changes to sport or task-specific reconditioning. My focus is on restoring optimal function of the body, refining movement patterns, and empowering the body to move with strength, ease, and intention.
Drawing from an integrated foundation of teachings and modalities, I combine knowledge from these all into the techniques and the process of how and why I do what I do in treatments. A few of the modalities that have helped further my development are, Tom Myers Anatomy Trains and Carla Stecco’s Functional Atlas of Human Fascial Anatomy which have assisted me well for understanding the Fascia and its complexity, the exercise rehabilitation work of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS), Weck Method Rotational Movement Training, Paul Cheks CHEK Integrated Movement Science and Holistic Lifestyle Coaching, and Dr Perry Nickelstons Stop Chasing Pain teachings, which have helped me undertsand movement and exercise from a scientific aspect of rehabilitation, as well as a holistic approach. I could talk for a long time on how they all influence what I do everyday with my clients, from applying Paul Cheks 4 Doctors system (balancing Dr Diet, Dr Quiet, Dr Movement and Dr Happy to avoid meeting The Pain Teacher), to Dr Perry Nickelston and his Big 6 Lymph Mojo and Vagus Nerve teachings, to Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation and its teaching of the importance of the breath and trunk stability for movement. I’ve had many mentors and much of their teachings have been weaved into the magic quilt of my bodywork approach.
With a deep understanding of anatomy and the inter contentedness of the body’s systems (many thanks to teachings from Tom Myers Anatomy Trains, Carla Stecco’s Fascia work, and Foundation Systems Training from Dr Shiva Ayadurai for that knowledge), I offer an approach to care not often seen in the massage and bodywork world, tailored to meet each person’s specific needs through thorough, intentional bodywork, opening fluid and lymphatic pathways, resetting the nervous system, improving breath mechanics, and supporting lasting reconditioning.
I should also mention that my massage treatments are unique in the way that I recommend it best not to have traditional clinical time restraints or a specific treatment time set, I like to call it letting the body decide the time, as if I have the freedom to treat without rushing to meet time restraints then I have found that the body I’m working on relaxes more deeply and lets go of tension at its own pace, treatments will often take longer than 2-3 hours (some serious cases needing just over 4hrs), and depending on the body being treated it’s often what is needed to get through the nervous system and tightness of the fascia. I do offer shorter treatment options, but I like to do things well and properly without skipping over areas or techniques, or rushing, as this work is thorough, dedicated, and often quite delicate work that should not be rushed. Each individuals nervous system and body is different and how long their fascia takes to let the tension dissipate is unique to the individual and I love to honor letting that work in its own way.
So whether you’re managing chronic pain, illness, or disease, rehabilitating an injury, keeping yourself active with hobbies or sport, or striving for peak physical performance in your desired field, I’m here to help keep you moving efficiently on your Highway to Health.
Thank you for aligning with me and choosing to heal.
With Love,
Riley Hannan
Riley hails from the picturesque Taranaki, New Zealand, where a deep connection to outdoor sports like surfing and rugby shaped much of his youth. Growing up in a culture that prioritized competitive performance, Riley learned early on the value of discipline and resilience. At 14, he moved with his family to Cabarita Beach, Australia, where the vibrant surf culture further fueled his passion for surfing, sports and martial arts in the way of boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Surrounded by athletes constantly striving for peak performance, Riley became fascinated with the human body and its potential. After a 10 year career as an electrician he parted ways from electrical work and construction which led to a natural transition into body therapy, where he could merge his love for movement and wellness with a desire to support others in their recovery and athletic performance.
Today, Riley prides himself in being a skilled body therapist who works with all walks of life from high stress CEO’s to athletes across various disciplines, offering holistic, performance-driven care. With a unique perspective shaped by both athletic experience and professional expertise, Riley is committed to helping others recover, perform, and reach their full potential.
